The main purpose of Leisure Village's Chorale group, which has been in existence since Leisure Village's earliest days, is to bring high-quality choral music (from Broadway to Grand Opera) to the Village for the enjoyment of Village residents. In addition, Villagers with a musical background like to create beautiful music themselves, so our group gives choral performances in the Village from time to time also.
Our singers practice every Monday from 12:30 to 2:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). We give ourselves an annual vacation from June to September. Our practice in the past has been to give (or to arrange for professional) concerts for Christmas, Hannukah, and in the Spring. This year we've scheduled a concert for October 1st, which will feature all American composers.
We're always looking for new voices for our group, especially basses and tenors (i.e., men).
For villagers who might like to join in our fun, or would justlike to get more information, please call us. We're more than happy to talk about ourselves. You can talk to our Musical Director Marcene Jardine, at 383-5555; our Accompanist Dorothy Weiss, at 484-8440; or any of the following: Byron Kaufman, 388-0880; Sally Yale, 482-2554; or Naoma Goodman, 383-5555.
